The Devil's Isles - Bermuda.Bermuda

Now known as Bermuda, The Devil's Isles were, for centuries, a widely known hazard to those sailing the often uncharted waters in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.  Due in part to the incredibly tricky reef system around our islands many hundred a vessel have fallen victim to the deep and not so deep turquoise blue waters.  Whenever a ship was lucky enough to get close enough to the heavily forested shores, some travelers would hear incredible shrieking noises from the trees.  Some credit these noises to wild pigs, hogges or boars that were left from previously wrecked boats.  Whatever the source, it was due to these noises and the reefs that sailors began calling this place "The Devil's Isles".

Devil's Triangle or Bermuda Triangle?

Then there is the dreaded triangle that for centuries has been called the "Devil's Triangle" or "Bermuda Triangle".  Many hundreds of people all over the world have tried to make some sense of the disappearances of 100s of ships and planes around Bermuda or... The Devil's Isles!!

Diving The Devil's Isles

"Known for years as one of the premiere dive destinations for wreck diving, Bermuda lives up to it's reputation. Virtually surrounded on all sides by treacherous coral reefs, many fine ships have met their doom within sight of the pink sand shores of Bermuda.
Known by ancient seafarers as "The Devil's Isles", it was wise to put extra lookouts on the deck when marking the shores of Bermuda. To miscalculate the trade winds often meant a certain demise on the shallow corals of the Bermuda waters.
To this day, recreational divers enjoy ship wreck diving at sites that vary in hundreds of years of history."  ~ www.divemaster.com
